Peer Support

Peer Support is defined as “someone who has experienced the healing process of recovery from psychiatric, traumatic, and/or substance abuse challenges and as a result, can offer assistance and support to promote another peer’s own personal recovery journey.”

Central Plaza certified Peer Support Specialists work with consumers individually and in groups to develop hope for recovery, increase problem-solving skills, develop natural support networks, and participate fully in activities of their choice. This can be as simple as going for a walk in the neighborhood, starting a conversation about interests and resources, or meeting new people at community activities.
